Janus Isaac Nolasco is Managing Editor of 'Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspectives on Asia', published by the Asian Center, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. He has a BA in Comparative Literature from UP Diliman (UP) and majored in West Asian Studies for his MA in Asian Studies at the UP Asian Center. His research interests include Islamic Studies, West Asian history, especially the premodern era; East-West historical-cultural linkages; literature; philosophy; and Philippine popular culture. His essays have appeared in 'The Manila Review', 'The Inquirer', and the 'Kyoto Review of Southeast Asia', among others.
