In this week’s fourth and final episode of the “Burma votes 2010” vodcast and podcast series I interview Dr Aung Si, who is the grandson of former Prime Minister of the Union of Burma, U Nu. Aung Si shares his thoughts on the campaign for the 7 November 2010 election. Regular New Mandala readers will recall that his parents, U Aung Nyein and Daw Than Than Nu, were candidates for the Democratic Party (Myanmar).

My second guest is Benjamin Zawacki from Amnesty International. He is Amnesty’s Thailand and Burma researcher. In the interview we discuss the human rights situation in Burma and also seek to compare that situation with what has been happening in Thailand.

The podcast of this episode is available here.

Unless there is a dramatic turn of events this will be the final vodcast for 2010. You may remember that earlier in the year we brought you six episodes in the “Thailand in Crisis” series and now the four installments of “Burma votes 2010” have also proven popular.

In terms of vodcasts and podcasts we are working on some big plans for 2011. Another series on Thailand is one strong option, but we are very happy to hear suggestions from viewers and listeners about what they would prefer.
