A trailer for the new Rambo film is now available on YouTube. The film – which follows the ultimate action hero as he battles Burmese soldiers – was shot in Thailand. Previous New Mandala coverage of Rambo’s latest exploits is available from our archive.

Back in November Thai authorities insisted that in this 4th Rambo film “any violence has to be reasonable because we care about young people”. From the footage in this trailer it appears that this instruction has been largely ignored. Be warned – it is a gory three-minute introduction to the new Rambo story.

In an interesting twist, The Irrawaddy tells us that two former All Burma Students’ Democratic Front fighters signed up to battle Rambo. They were cast to play Burmese army officers.

Here at New Mandala we will continue to follow the story around this film. It is not scheduled for release until May 2008.
