As a couple of New Mandala readers have noted in their comments, Swiss graffitist Oliver Jufer has received a royal pardon. It was an unnecessary charge, an outrageous sentence and the fallout has been damaging for all concerned. Let’s hope the sorry affair encourages some rethinking of Thailand’s now internationally infamous lèse majesté law.
