Nguyễn Thị Thu Huyền is an independent researcher based in Japan, with an academic background in history and anthropology. Huyền previously worked at VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi, and possesses extensive research experience in the northern upland of Vietnam, especially in the Hmong history and culture. Chen Yi Ting is a PhD candidate at Loughborough University, UK. Ting’s research has focused on ethnic identities and migration dynamics related to Vietnam, including Vietnamese workers on Sino-Vietnamese border and the Vietnamese diaspora in the UK, from an integrated perspective of anthropology, geography and media studies.
