James Chin is Professor of Asian Studies at the University of Tasmania, where his research focuses on governance and politics in Southeast Asia, especially Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. He was inaugural Director of the Asia Institute Tasmania, University of Tasmania, and is currently the vice-president of the Australian Institute of International Affairs, Tasmania Branch.
