And you claim to know Prabowo better? Do you even realize Prabowo keeps contradicting himself on his own actions and statements?

I judge both Prabowo and Jokowi by their background, behavior and actions. Both have Plusses and Minuses, both of them have flaws. But Prabowo’s flaws are far worse than Jokowi’s.

Here are my answers for some of your statements. And I will give you an honest answer.

    1. “I just wonder, anybody able to guarantee that this lovely country will be a corruption free and fairly have their own resources if Jokowi-JK lead?”

Answer. No, I can’t guarantee Indonesia will be corruption-free if Jokowi is elected. Nobody, not even Prabowo, can fully eradicate the corruption in Indonesia. The corruption habit is already being passed down traditionally from generation to generation, as if it was okay to do so. Thus having a blasphemy Government like today. It will be very difficult to eleminate all corruptors, because our Government is totally being invested by them.

But I can guarantee you Jokowi will certainly do something, the condition won’t change exponentially, but you’ll be able to see some improvements from time to time. And it will be very difficult, because the Parliament won’t support him. Why? Because of corrupted politicians inside the Parliament. Most of his programs won’t get accepted easily.

Now maybe you’d like to say that Prabowo would do the same. But I highly doubt it. Here’s why, by using your own statement.

    2. “And he really hate those ‘thief’ practice. The people and party around him might not really good but he needs them to achieve % of t&c to be a president.”

Answer. You stated that he hated those thiefing practices. And he needed them to get more votes to be a president?
Now you’ve just convinced us that Prabowo is indeed a man without integrity. You’ve just proven that Prabowo will do ANYTHING to be able to take the throne, including having bad people in his team, as long as he wins, as long as he gets more votes.

That’s certainly not an action of a man who “hates” thiefing practices. Siding with bad people is not an excuse/alibi to justify your action.

You want to defend him by saying he will remove those bad people after getting elected? If you want to use that to defend him, again, I question his integrity. If he’s willing to betray his own allies for self gain, he’s willing to betray our hopes as well. I won’t give my vote to a man who can’t be trusted.

But sadly to say, your wishful thinking won’t happen. Prabowo has promised those bad people ministry’s Position.

Now, how is Prabowo able to eradicate corruption, if his nominated ministries are all bad people? Explain to us.

No, I am not saying that. What I am saying is that, even if there were an independent Isarn state, at least two economic realities would remain; 1) Isarn’s need to find markets for its labour and its produce; Thailand’s need for cheap Isarn labour and Isarn products. While I don’t share your view that Isarn nationalism is likely to lead to anything very much, even if it did, the same economic realities would remain. In short the idea that it would necessarily bring about collapse of the “Thai structure” is just fantasy with no basis in economic reality.

  14. […] In the wake of July 9’s voting in Indonesia’s presidential elections, both candidates, Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, and Prabowo Subianto have declared that, according to quick counts, they have won the presidential election. For those who are not familiar with Indonesian elections, a quick count is not the same thing as an exit poll, common in Western elections; a primer on quick counts is available on New Mandala. […]

Thanks for the article, I enjoy reading it just as I enjoyed your previous one on the same subject.
I was wondering if you had the opportunity to speak to people living in similar conditions outside of your fieldwork sites? It’d be interesting to see how widespread the issues you discussed here are: namely, vote-buying, intimidation, FBR, and the idea of not voting for Jokowi to keep him close.
Also, did you speak to the members of the community about Ahok as a replacement?

Thailand should send back all these pesky dissidents, refugees, migrants. prostitutes, slave workers etc. from Burma (and Cambodia?) to where they belong. Thailand for Thais (with a sprinkling of rich Chinese at the top) Thailand can provide its own cheap labour for their prawn farms and construction business. No more human-trafficking. Down with the Burmese who invaded Ayuthaya! LOL
