I suspect we haven’t seen signs of vote-buying primarily that would be extraordinarily expensive to pull off in a presidential election even to someone as fabulously rich as Prabowo

  2. jaytee says:

They have presented you with their personal opinions and I believe theirs are correct and will be vindicated on 22 July 2014

  3. Henry says:

This method is real, thats why we should avoid being manipulated and provoked. Since the May Incident, prabowo had become the major suspect for the incident by using the same method for coup de’tat Habibie.

Please indonesian people, open your eyes, be smart and let no one deceive you to choose the deceptive and evil prabowo.

  4. Miggi Sahabati says:

I’m sorry but all of us (not only the two parties) have to wait till 22 July 2014 to know who will be the winner of Indonesia election this year.
About your statement, “Let’s be clear about one thing: Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has won Indonesia’s 9 July presidential election.” I think you should correct it. Because till now we haven’t get the official result yet from KPU. Thank you.

  5. MarcelJo says:

how can we forget what had happened 16 years ago? by saying 1998, its like bringing bad memories 🙂

No 1 candidate has been suspected to be involved in the mentioned year’s incident. Why can he give some closure to the family? they have been waiting 🙂 either they are alive or most likely dead.

  6. Jonah says:

SBY has promised to fight corruption. I hope he will do all that he can within his power to make sure that this election will be corruption-free.

  7. indonesia hebat says:

    The steps is too obvious
    1. Prabowo make confusion to the Indonesia Citizen with the fake quick count result and celebrate fake winning drama
    2. Revision on the RUU MD3 after 9 July which never been discussed before, as for the sake of current DPR too hold their king throne seat position, so that still can continue blood sucking
    Indonesia
    3. Fake surveyor is buying time not to show their method and data in resulting the prabowo’s winning result

  8. Neutral bystander says:

Ferdinand: What? Are YOU dumb? Please try to observe BENEATH what’s actually being written or broadcasted. You don’t seem to be understand my point. I did not say Prabowo should become president, nor did I say his supporters are not corrupt. What I am trying to convey is that it is a pity to read such a biased article – completely obliterating whatever Prabowo stood for. People accuse Prabowo of smear campaigning, BUT THIS ARTICLE (supporting Jokowi) does the SAME smear campaigning FOR JOKOWI. Do you now see the irony? I’ve always thought the Jokowi-JK campaign played a very different, very mature game compared to the old party politics Koalisi Merah Putih are playing. Also regarding your assumptions, I feel that you have no factual basis whatsoever to accuse Prabowo of doing such a thing. Accusing him of doing so would categorize you as the same bunch of people who smeared Jokowi’s name throughout this campaign.

Darma: Completely agree with your statement. That is the main reason for my doubt in Prabowo.

Ajie Hatadji: Prabowo is not an angel, but in all things politics, he is not a devil either. He is not the sole actor. Are you going to bring up Wiranto’s statement to rebut?

  9. jaytee says:

“why can you even see the chance that prabowo could win this election without cheating”

when you know who he is in bed with, do you think that a slight chance is even possible???

  10. frida says:

It is not about the future possibility of what PDIP will do when they are in power. It is abou t the danger this nation is into if Prabowo successfully becomes the ruler.

  11. jaytee says:

they aren’t afraid of him, why should they be???

when the country is abandoned by investors, then you’ll see that he’ll go cap in hand to ask for forgiveness

“Otherwise, they risk their own people in Indonesia”.

    is that a threat???

  12. R. N. England says:

It occurred to me that a military coup is really a civil war in which conquest is instantaneous. Casualties tend to be limited to the silencing, imprisonment, or exile of members of the former regime (usually in the case of Thailand, the people’s elected representatives). The ultimate Blitzkrieg (Blitzsieg?): victory in a flash. The military and the Chakri clique are the conquerors of the Thais, and the overthrowers of their elected governments. The yellow shirts are their collaborators. These civil-war victories have been repeated ad nauseam every time democracy has begun to emerge amongst the Thais. The reason why they have succeeded with so little bloodshed is that the Thais are more comfortable than most nations with their status as a conquered people. The same can be said of all nations in which kings are regarded as the foundation of authority, and the people have little confidence in the strength of their own moral values. Thais have been deliberately kept in that miserable situation by Chakri propaganda. The hope for Thailand is that the historical trend away from that national characteristic will continue.

  13. SHan says:

Understandably, we all get confused with the quick counts results & each party wants to claim victory. To be fair, why don’t they consider all quick counts from those 12 different institutions & average them. Interestingly by doing so, we’ll find that Jokowi-Jk still have higher % of votes over Prabowo-Hatta.

(additionally with Bakrie’s firm and Tanoe’s firm current low stock price on market)

there is nothing more effective than being punished by investors for the stupidity of their actions

  15. Tony says:

Prabowo is a rich man, buddy. How you determine that he will corrupt? He just wanna make you people better. Sigh

  16. Tony says:

Well.. See you. Bon Voyage. You are nothing. You can’t do anything foryour country, whatever you gonna be. Chose your leader based on like or dislike dude. Thats good for you..only.

  18. Devi says:

Be honest Prabowo…..We are Indonesian people SMART enough to know your bad attitude…!

  19. Agus says:

I support Jokowi, but he’s not the messiah. And it always surprises me how credulous foreign observers are. You do you realize that LSI has a checkered past too, right? And the above commenter makes a completely valid point about Rizal Sukma, who could be considered for FM of a Jokowi administration. The fact is you don’t know with certainty what the actual count is, and you simply dismiss any suggestion that Jokowi’s team might do the kind of things that are very, very common in Indonesian politics. As academics, please try to see all possibilities.
