Asia, Thailand, Bangkok, All over Thailand the Red Shirt movement held parties for exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinatwatra┬Тs 60 year birthday, a strong provocation for the Democrat Party led coalition government. In Bangkok the events began with religious and magical rites bringing luck to Thaksin in Wat Kaeow Fa Temple, and lifting curses. In the evening a large Chinese dinner was held in a large restaurant, attended by Thaksin┬Тs two sisters and many stars. Another venue where celebrations were held with thousands of supporters was at Wat Uthaitharam temple.
Thaksin’s sister Yaowapa and her husband Somchai Wongsawat, former prime minister, and the crowd sing ‘happy birthday’ to Thaksin while he is on the mobile phone. ┬й2009, Nick Nostitz/Agentur Focus
