This has got beyond tedious, though there does seem to be some sign of Vichai N actually managing at least a selective glance at the data and references provided before – which (how many more times does it need to be said?) show that discharge from the main dams was significantly increased in August, increased yet higher in September (bar the few days reduction reported (and actioned?) by Theera) and even higher (to emergency levels – by then out of dire necessity) in October.

As expected, no response to the invitation to back up the false premise “Why did Yingluck delay the release of water from the bursting dams for one month?” assertion – neither here nor at http://asiancorrespondent.com/70689/poll-natural-disaster-and-mismanagement-cause-the-floods-part-1/#disqus_thread where it was also wheeled out.

    Hi Fanta and Anon,

Thanks for reminding me that she is not a MP. But I am sure she is a member of the Democrat party. Let me say it clearly, only the Democrat Party can produce such a brainless spoke woman.

Seems that she now welcomes a 11yr old to the crusade of ‘reporting bad webs'(aka. Fight bad web), means that the kid will have to actively surf looking for porn and LM cases and such.

‘Don’t discount how resourceful the kid is’, she says. No, the only thing I’m discounting is that she had any braincells in the first place.

    Shocking. Truly shocking.

  4. Shane Tarr says:

I am beginning to wonder if Khun Vichai actually understands the politics of water management in the Realm.

As I said in an earlier post RID is not the only player or stakeholder in how water is managed in Thailand’s dams. Has Vichai not heard of EGAT or if he has does he not understand its ability to influence debates surrounding water managment in Thailand?

It is facile to continuously bag the current Government on this issue without also trying to understand the antecedents of who manages water and why they manage or “mismanage” water in Thailand.

I would be alarmed if my 5 year old son just kept repeating ad nauseum his dislike of a particular person and what s/he represents or misrepresents without also making at least some reference to observable facts and archival material!

  5. Fanta says:

@Jake: Mallika is not a member of parliament. The only official title that she has is deputy spokeswoman for the Democrats party.

  6. Vichai N says:

“Why did Yingluck delay the release of water from the bursting dams for one month?”

This question remains unanswered to his day . . .

The Yingluck cabinet included Agriculture Minister Theera who was a carry over from the Abhisit administration. Agriculture Minister Theera was first and foremost a water management expert. He was getting these regular dams and rainfall reports that had consistently been reporting that rainfalls since March 2011 were 45% or so above normal, and dams are about to burst. At their first cabinet meeting in August, surely the threat of a big deluge should have been at the top of their agenda. Was it? When did the Yingluck cabinet seriously took the flood/dams matter into consideration.

Definitely Agriculture Minister must have warned Yingluck of the danger of the bursting dams and unrelenting monster moonsoon.

Re: Jake Smith, I don’t think Mallika is an MP. She was never elected nor she was on the Dem’s Party List.

Ramanathan : Indonesians are not malays bro.. the studpid definition of malays here in malaysia doesn’t feet at all. Ther are javanese, balinese, bugis, papuan, etc. and culturally distinct to each other. Their ways of thinking and life are also different.

  9. Jordan Sugunasingam says:

The issue of how inclusive a party is considered to be, is determined not by the racial make-up of the party but by their ideology and the policies they develop and implement for the purpose of propagating that ideology. In short, what do they practice. In that context the only basis for drawing any comparison between the BN and the DAP is to look at their record of governance. BN for the last 54 years and DAP in Penang for the last three. Therein lies the evidence of who can be considered inclusive, the party who implements meritocracy and needs based policies or the party who in the name of affirmativeness practices racism, cronyism and nepotism. Need one say more.

Take comfort that she has been silly enough to state all this as a matter of public record – at least you know where she is. Better these people are out in the open where you can see them…

  11. Greg Lopez says:

The Prime Minister answer questions from young Malaysians.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak evaded a potential minefield by dodging a question over his deputy’s ‘Malay first, Malaysian second‘ statement (minute 12 – the question per say was somehow not recorded)

  12. Sue says:

I often wonder if there are any decent human beings ,had ever been or are MPs of this ironically named “democrat party’.
Would highly higly appreciate if anyone could give me even one name.

    It’s the spiraling effect.
The louder the noise, the louder one has to shout to be heard.
The more the hate (of red shirt), the harder the hardline extremist they breed.

She is just trying to compete for attention among the extremist, pro-royalist constituent (grabbing the market share that PAD left behind).

The new convert are dangerous, for they are always out to prove themselves to be more catholic than the pope.
The Dem will be better off in the long run to kick her out now, before she manage to establish a cult and have significant saying.

Agreed, the 4 days waiting was nothing more than to observe how people react, then he just jump on the side that people agree with, the guy got no principle.

It is high time Muhyiddin is brought to task and made accountable.

  18. The difficulties I have with Muhyiddin are many. In the matter of racism, I’d like an exposition of his ‘logic’ in saying he’s not a racist through exploring the following:

    1. What, in his opinion, constitutes racism?
    2. Are there good and bad forms of racism? How so?
    3. Where has racism occurred, is occurring and will continue?
    4. Who is a Malay? Is Mahathir? Are Indonesians?
    5. What race are the indigenous peoples of Malaya, Sabah & Sarawak?

  19. John Khoo says:

The National Feedlot Corporation project was given out under his watch as the Minister for Agriculture, no less than to the husband and children of another “backdoor” minister who also happens to be the UMNO Wanita chief. Now why was this project handed over the relatives of this backdoor Minister when they have no past experience nor any qualification to run this project. There were more qualified people (an Australian company in a joint venture) who had a good plan for which were highjacked by by these relatives.

Now why were this project handed over is the pertinent question? The real reason is that the Wanita Chief’s support was crucial for a high position within UMNO (Deputy President no less). Why has he not answered any questions regarding this and choose to divert it to the current Agriculture Minister who is doing an incompetent job of covering up. The Auditor General has been very clear to state that the project was in a mess and there appears to be a case of criminal breach of trust when they used money given to this project to buy two expensive condominiums.

This was quoted as his comment:

“Can the Malays depend on PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat/People’s Justice Party), can they expect something from Anwar Ibrahim? Can they defend the principles in the Constitution, Malay rights, Malay rulers, Malay language, Malay economy?

I like to know where in the Malaysian Constitution that says special Malay rights”? There is the special position of the Malay Rulers and Bumiputras (include the indigenous of Sabah and Sarawak). If there were special rights then why only the UMNOputras benefited and the majority of the bumiputras in the Malayan peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak still living in abject poverty?

Mallaka is a disgrace in Thai Parliament. A member of parliament without any brain in her head. A disgrace for the people who elected her in her province. A bad example of uncivilized and outmoded politician party like the Democrat Party. Not surprise to learn why the The Democrat Party never win any election for the last ten years. Won’t be surprise for the next twenty years for the Democrat to lose any election, if its happened. It shows clearly that people who elect the Prue Thai Party are more modernized and more democratic mind than those people who elect the Democrat.
