This suggests that the most powerful army faction is backing her for the succession. Possibly this faction will win out over the one supporting Vajiralongkorn without open conflict (for example, if they persuade the King to endorse her). If the two factions were equally balanced and looked like coming to blows, she would probably disappoint her backers/masters and take another holiday in China. This could pave the way for an army faction supporting a Shinawatra dynasty, or a banana Republic. Another possibility, if the military implodes in the conflict, or in a cleansing, Bangladesh-style mutiny, would be democracy. Sirindhorn may be moderate and stoic enough to resist the flatterers that have undone her father and brother, and reduced her country to its present sad state. She might even emerge as a genuine constitutional monarch in a democratic Thailand.
Get used to it folks. Just imagine a few years ahead after the royal succession . . . Thailand will probably need to add one special court to deal with lese majeste cases only.
The blacklist, or at least one copy of it, is at the Immigration Office at BKK airport. Robert Amsterdam’s name is on it for certain. If you think your name might be on it, I suggest considering other ways of leaving the country than flying out.
Ah . . . not the pro-Thaksin Andrew Marshall to submit his “major story” about Wikileaks in his possession.
I am a very suspicious person by nature. And rape-accused Julian Assange I must say is not Jesus . . .
So I will make public my suspiciouns: (a) Why this overly delayed length of time that Julian Assange had withheld release of the Wikileaks? and (b) Is it even possible that say Thaksin could offer some small “funding” to the Julian Assange cause in return for his release of Thailand-specific Wikileaks to Thaksin-friendly journalist, like Andrew Marshall?
As usual the caveat ‘Don’t believe everything you read in the Internet ” stands.
Sorry, in doing a little goggling, I found that the origin of the Latin alphabet in Vietnam astoundingly begins in 1527 (Wiki). Therefore my idea of comparing pre-adoption reading rates with post adoption ones, as a ‘natural experiment showing the impact of Romanization on literacy use’, does not after all seem possible there. Romanization has been developing for centuries there, making a pre/post comparison moot.
There is a non-substantiated claim by the Wiki writer that the Latin alphabet ‘facilitated’ the impressive Vietnamese reading rates . But, as stated, this has no more factual value than one of our own blogging speculations that it would help here.
“the adoption of the Vietnamese [Latin based] alphabet also facilitated widespread literacy among Vietnamese speakers–whereas a majority of Vietnamese in Vietnam could not read or write prior to the 20th century, the population is now almost universally literate.”
One student of the transition from the Asiatic writing form to the Western form factually claims that in time, the ability to read the old Asiatic literature was lost, and thereby cultural heritage was lost. Certainly this must be a prime fear among the conservative guardians of language purity here.
“Scholars like Pamela A. Pears who study the effect of French Colonialism on native peoples assert that the French, by imposing Roman alphabet on the Vietnamese, cut the Vietnamese off from their traditional literature, rendering them unable to read it.[2]”
VALUE: What seems to be of possible use value to be gained here, from their hundreds of years of Latin adjustment there, are the technical mechanism adopted in writing. Vietnamese follows a 6 tonal form, yet they have developed “an exact phonemic transcription” ability, etc

Six 206 subs for Thailand’s Gulf (max depth 80m) is just too much (in term of operational cost and quantity). Indonesia only have two 209/1300 (made 1979). Malaysia only have two Scorpenes (2005).
BUT it will be good opportunity for the Navy so they can train and get experience from an old tech subs.
AND it will become a great deterrent effect for the neighbouring countries. (Did Thailand have border dispute or conflict with other?)
PS: In old-tech subs, you need experience to read and analyze the sonar and know the situation deep under sea. It’s like you walk like a blind-man, only use your other sense and experience to travel around.
