After we try to find out the way to go across the house owner of the house try to help us bring ladder and told us this wall can pass the “Complete Condominium” the man who had shot on his arm run to me and ask to go before cuase he faint and can not breath after everybody go pass the wall I’m be the last man who climb past this wall and after jump from that wall my leg is too much hurt I’m not sure that broke or not (cuase i’m so fat and a lot of weight) try to keep walking but almost can’t . I’m so lucky that had one woman who live in Complete condominium ask me and help me by open the door and let’s me keep inside on the mailbox area she help me bring pill and water for me. about 5 minute that I’m be in that situation my ankle is so hurt I’m not sure broke or not she try to help me be said to me ” Please do not go anywhere if everything calm i’ll bring you go outside please do not go outside now cuase you can’t be inside again” (Would like to say a lot of Thank you to her) after I take pill she walk outside and ran back to me and said soldier come go upstair!! She bring me to go on and let me wait there I must to leave my red sign every red sign down in the trash cuase this is so dangerous with me and who help me.

In that 2 hour after i’m be there I heard a lot of troop down on the ground for and yale “Where is the injured people told me where is the injured people” but I’m not sure who they yale to. Sound of bomb and gun fire more than you thing , I heard ambulane siren try to come inside but had a lot of gun fire that made ambulance must to go back.

I be there about 2 hour after be in silence everything stop I came down and try to find some slipper (mine leave in the gas station) I walk infront of entrance of this condominium found 2 slipper 1 had a lot of blood cover that slipper and onother 1 more clean than that (now i kept this slipper and do not wash blood still be on that slipper) after that i think i will walk trought and can pass to sam learm din dang cuase i’ve park my motorcycle there. When i try to look around that place i put my head out of the wall and look around I saw 5 soldier around there and when they saw me they yale something and shoot to my place again (I just to know what happen from video that the man that got shot on his leg and some of protestor came in that place that I’m be there) after the shot came to the wall i ran back to condominium again (still hurt but i think adrenalene rush that bring me not hurt anymore) had another woman that walk trought that place ran to be with me she said “What the fuc..ing soldier what they shot too much” (She don’t know that they try to shoot me) I ran to the park inside of this condominium there are one man i think he live in this condominium told me that this park had the wall that not too high I go there and climb pass in the next soi from that street. That’s the story that i’ve got by myself and want to say a big thank you to all of the mercy people that help me and another protestor to be alive.

Thank you very much Nick to kept the picture from this situation and show this to all of people in the world.

Nobody in Thailand that you can trust just only you that the first person who analyse from every picture and news from this situation.

PS> May have someone that ask me why you must to go there and hurt yourself. Answer of this Question is If you have anyone who care and love inside the protestor area and every way you would like to connect with them are cut down or block only this thing you can be inside and found them right? and another answer is I belived in my experience that this government try to close eye and say every thing not same of the truth that’s why we try to fight with them with no weapon. Honestly If i have any weapon like M16 , Travor , M79 I will shot them back absolutely sure but only weapon I have in that time only “Slingshot”.

Commit to raising education standards to a European (or even just Australian) level within the next five years. Offer grants to poorer children to encourage them to stay in the education system longer.

Give tax incentives and development grants available to modern employers who move out of Bangkok and into the provinces.

Massively expand Abhisits’ embryonic welfare state to eliminate severe poverty entirely.

Cut military spending, and raise the standard of policing by re-training, cutting numbers, and increasing salaries.

Prosecute all involved in the ‘war on drugs’ and other rights abuse regardless of rank or status.

    Reform LM.

    1. Reformed the military, reduced the military role in politic and limit the corruption in the arm force.
    2. Every institution in Thailand must have a proper checking system, not just limit to police and politician but included charity organization, privy council, and so on.
    3. Reformed the entire political system, lese majeste needs to go.
    4. 100% elected Sanate
    5. Increase the representative seat from 350 to 550
    6. Total freedom of speech and expression, no more censoring.

On the top of the above suggestions, may I add

    1. Less corruption. Start from your immediate allies.

    2. Set up the strategic investment plan for domestic entrepreneurs, protect them if necessary

    3. Tax the rich more and spend effectively and transparently on welfare matters

    4. Cut military expenditure unless the army shows itself capable of making technology

    5. Most importantly, be fair, considerate, and responsible politician yourself

  9. Maratjp says:

    A few suggestions for Abhisit:

    1. Get your books on government that you supposedly read from Eton and Oxford and review the concept of an electoral majority.

    2. Do your military service that everyone else in Thailand must do.

    3. Stop the projector behind the curtain that has been impoverishing the minds of schoolchildren for 60 years with its shameless propaganda relentlessly promoting monarchy at the expense of the people.

    4. Confiscate the 20-50 billion dollars that the monarchy has stolen off the backs of the Thai people for the last two hundred years and invest it in the north of Thailand in education and free enterprise.

  10. Portman says:

Make sure that the law follows its full course and that all yellow and red shirt leaders are tried fairly for their crimes, including but not limited to taking over Govt House, taking over the airports, violation of emergency decrees, infringement of rights of other citizens, incitiment to arson and destruction of property, incitement to murder, possession of illegal weapons.

Reform the police force. Decentralize it and make it publicly accountable. Crack down hard on police corruption. Most Thais of all colour codes hate their police for very good reasons. This should please all sides and make Thailand a fairer society.

Roger #57: thanks for that. I agree that a thread on Education would be a great idea. Perhaps it would be best to wait until the current crisis situation has died down though, because I think the energy of most NM participants is going into commentary on urgent issues directly concerned with it. Many NM readers & commentators do have a connection with education, either as educators or parents, & I would hope that they would want to be involved.

John H #49: You make some good points about the medical system, particularly in regard to over-prescribing. A couple of years ago I had a heavy chest cold, which caused me to take time off work, so I needed a medical certificate. That’s all I wanted, because I recognized the symptoms & knew that symptomatic relief (old-fashioned cough mixture & something to dry up the mucous, both available over-the-counter) was sufficient. I went to the OPD of the very posh hospital near my home. The doctor gravely told me she needed a chest X-ray. I allowed them to do this, trusting in her expertise & somewhat alarmed. She then put me on a respirator for half an hour. I was finally given two antibiotics & various other medications in a show-bag, charged 6000baht on top of my insurance, & sent home. I called a doctor friend in Oz, who asked me what colour the mucous was, roared laughing, & told me to throw all the medication out, take some honey & lemon, and go to bed. I have not been back to that hospital, except to demand the medical certificate, which the quack had forgotten to give me, & for which they had the cheek to ask a second fee (I refused).

I find Mission very good. It’s run by 7th-day Adventists, medical missionaries, they’re vegetarians & give dietary advice (prevention better than cure), & only prescribe antibiotics if absolutely necessary. They’re not god-botherers, BTW.

  13. Tarrin says:

“The main difference between a Democracy and a Republic is in a Democracy, 99% can vote away the right of 1% of the population (Mob Rule) while in a Republic, 99% can not vote away the PROTECTED right of 1% of the population (Rule by Law). I just saw the word democracy freely used so I wanted to point out what many great men had said about the Democratic form of Government.”

This is wrong, I think you are misunderstanding something here, Republic is a “form” of democratic governing system, not another governing system by itself. Comparing Republic to Democracy is like comparing SUV to a car, SUV is a type of car its not another mean of transportation by itself. So far, there’s 2 main democratic governing system being use in the world today, one is the Republic where the head of state is elected as well as the representative moreover the executive, legislation, and the jurisdiction clearly separated. While another is Parliamentary system where the head of state is permanent (the constitutional monarchy), so election for the head of state but the representative is elected. There’s no clear cut between the executive and legislation since the representative is a de facto head of legislation and executive. Even under each, there are sub category such as Islamic Republic or Parliamentary system which have head of state elected but with little or no power and so on.

Btw, in Democratic society, any number of people that get majority (even 51%) can vote to get rid or create any law, law should not be permanent but a variable that can be adjust to fit with changing world and society.

Maybe instead of study about how great people think about democracy, you should study about how each actually works?

    Talking about the education system.

I have first hand experience of the Thai education system at an early age. In Bangkok, I was enrolled at a relatively expensive private nursery school (р╣Вр╕гр╕Зр╣Ар╕гр╕╡р╕вр╕Щр╕нр╕Щр╕╕р╕Ър╕▓р╕е). I and most of the male students were physically assaulted by teachers almost on a daily basis. It wasn’t getting hit that was the problem, but how arbitrarily (and ferociously) the punishment was dished out by mainly female teachers. Furthermore, the unfortunate kid who happen to wet himself during nap time would rarely get sympathy from the teachers, but more often embarrassed in front of the class.

This may be anecdotal evidence from my own experience, but I also noticed that by the time we reached primary school, many of the kids (~ 6 years old) have already acquired a particularly nasty edge not seen in Aussie kids of the same age. The amount of bragging, bullying, and backstabbing has to be seen to be believed.
