Edith Mirante is author of "Where the Mithuns Are: Essays on War, Art and Beasts" as well as three books on Southeast Asia. In 1986 she founded Project Maje (www.projectmaje.org) which distributes information on Burma (Myanmar) human rights and environmental issues.
