Dr Vannessa Hearman is Senior Lecturer in Indonesian Studies and a historian of Southeast Asia at Charles Darwin University. Her research deals with the Indonesian 1965-66 anti-communist violence, the politics of memory and human rights, and transnational activism related to Indonesia and Timor-Leste. She is most recently the author of "Unmarked Graves: Death and Survival in the Anti-Communist Violence in East Java, Indonesia" (NUS Press, 2018)
