Would be interesting to investigate the relationship between % PR votes vs % Chinese as well as two pooulation study of mean salary versus percentage of PR/BN votes
The analysis may be seen as what the ruling coalition wants you to see, the New Straits Times being the primary source of data. Factor in the evident fraud, when the ‘real’ source transpires in the, hopefully, near future, and your remarkable work would be absolutely scintillating. At the moment it’s a reflection of darkness.
Najib will not resign. He’s face is thick like a coffin… He already can use so many dirty tricks yet u think he is willing to step down??? Its ok… he will pay for it…
IMO in order to appreciate the complexity of issues such as this in Thailand, one needs to get a meaningful opinion sample of one’s own e.g. from discussion with a broad cross section of local Thais in the vernacular – and of course to keep one’s eyes open and ears tuned in – particularly for opinions which merely provide what the listener is thought to want or expect to hear. When your a local too, the information gained tends to be far more nuanced than any simplistic Red vs Yellow divide. Experience is the main factor – which is why I go to the people who were born here: They may not know much about political theory, but they have a good understanding of their own values and how policies affect them. What they don’t often have is insight into how alternatives such as Western education actually works – so they are forced to rely on who they know (patronage) instead of what they know (meritocracy). Until the education system nurtures instead of penalizes a questioning mindset, nothing will really change.
Dude i guess you have not done your homework yet. what is your statistics & statements behind this confrontation? do you think 25% population of Chinese in Malaysia can create such big swing? please
I hope and pray people like you open your eyes to the infighting and lack of agreement among the opposition coalition and see whether this is really the change you want or do want change just for change sake? Selangor which is the richest state and is now under opposition, has yet to declare who will be the Chief Minister . Whereas BN’s Chief Ministers have already been sworn in and started working.
It was interesting to see how an outsider to Malaysian politics viewed the election process .I can’t fault you on your perceptions but where did you get the idea that only BN campaigners focussed on attacking the opposition? I know of the Gelang Patah campaign where one of the opposition leaders hit out in an ungentlemanly way against the BN candidate who is well known for his moderate views. You only know one part of the story– the one shown to you.And what do you mean how meaningful can it be if the national govt cannot be changed by us Malaysians? How did the opposition win three states if nothing can change? And who says change must take place in one day? Of course the population will take time to absorb if they want change.. I for one do not want change. Not after knowing things about the opposition which are glaringly frightening but for some reason the people who support the opposition are strangely silent.. Imposition of Hudud law for one,And the coalition members are quiet as mice when one of their kind goes off on a tangent.. I literally thank God for the reprieve given where I can live another five years in peace I hope, as I have all these years. Unless of course Anwar starts acting up as usual. Now he is threatening a big rally blah blah. Electoral fraud he says yet he and his daughter won big time. Please. Don’t give us a headache. And cyber news is all slanted in favor of opposition in the worst possible language. Shows the calibre of these people..
one question that needs to be asked is to what extent the ‘malay’ vote is more easily tampered with: i believe ‘malays’ are over-represented in advance and postal voting, which are more easily manipulated than regular voting.
there is also the fact that the civil service is almost entirely ‘malay’ and this is a group which receives considerable pressure to vote for the bn.
and so on. the point being to remove try to remove all factors other than ‘free will’ from the analysis.
once this is done, my guess is that the correlation will suddenly look much weaker.
pakatan lost because of the wrongful sabah srawak total allocated parlimen seats..their total population is only 16% of entire malaysia but they get 25% of parlimen seat!!!! Selangor is 15% of malaysia population, but only given 10% parlimen seats…that is the trick that made them won…johor ok with 16%population, 16%parlimen seats and perak also tally,,other states are somewhat okay. but sabah and serawak are the THIEVES of the election…..tell everybody…just add up their population and do the math…a form three pupil will be able to show that fact! other reasons are NEGLIGIBLE COMPARED TO THIS FACT!!
Mr. Greg Lopez, a good summing up and thank you for r eminding Malaysians that the way ahead is FORWARD. The opposition has done a very good job of opening the eyes of the common Malaysian into the corrupt practices of the UMNO and BN. The Malaysian who distrusted the Internet and had acess only to RTm, after all that has happened and from listening to those who have NOT been limited by these fetters, will now start to distrust anymore BN bullshit. Malaysians have come forward thanks to those brave enough to act quietly and peacefilly WITHIN the system to bring light upon the dark actions of the BN. Rakyat Malaysia, it is time to move on, and do this with your newfound knowledge. Knowledge is power. Applied correctly it is wisdom.

Dear Sir,I am proud to be a Malaysian; back in the 60’s that is. Where we freely mingle with our neighbors of other races. We learned to speak each others dialect/language and we were not surprise when some of us was able to converse using their dialect/language. Yes, it was so good then. There was no mentioned about fair or unfair, we were so involved in building the country, we call Malaysia. What has happened today was “ONE” Prime Minister took advantage of a section in the Constitution and spearheaded a changed that benefited himself. Others without knowing his selfish intentions, followed blindly and was swept into the world of greed and power. This went on for 30+ years and became so entrenched into the lifestyle of these individuals so much so that to loose it one day would spell “DISASTER”. This dependency on the ruling party is so obvious that contracts were given freely; these beneficiaries were never builders of businesses? So you can just imagine asking them to loose all these goodies! What is going to happened to their sub-contracting “business”? They are doomed. Back to the recent election, BN has too much to loose as there are too many mouths to feed and bills to settled. It is high time the RAKYAT set things in proper perspective and change for the better before it is too late …. or are we too late.
Chinese Tsunami? you must be kidding me. please accept the fact that most people is getting smarter on how the way they think and how to choose the right or the wrong.
although in malaysia, all the TV and newspapers are control by BN-Government!!
who in the earth can accept if the government even can cheat on the election day???? only those who has the benefit from them will support them!
So, LP Selvam…please do not be racist!!i guess you are PARROT!!
You are right, I wrongly had Kasthuri Patto and Teresa Kok down for PKR in my spreadsheet. I apologise for the mistake, and have asked for a correction to be added.
