What follows are the details of an event that many UK-based New Mandala readers will want to attend:

LESE MAJESTE IN THAILAND: THE ENEMY OF DEMOCRACY
Speaker: Prof Giles Ji Ungpakorn, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok

Associate Professor Ungpakorn is currently facing politically-motivated charges of lèse majesté arising from his book, A Coup for the Rich, wich criticised Thailand’s September 2006 military coup. He has now issued a manifesto for freedom and democracy in Thailand.

Venue: Talbot Hall, Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford
