On 19-20 September, observers of Indonesian politics, economics and society from around the world gathered at the ANU in Canberra for the annual Indonesia Update conference.

With Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono about to leave office, this year’s Indonesia Update was billed as a retrospective on the SBY presidency and what it has meant for the country he has lead for ten years. We’re chuffed to say that New Mandala authors and editors were well-represented at the Update, widely regarded as the premier international forum for Indonesian studies outside Indonesia.
